As of March 15 I have been working as a graphic designer for a local magazine for ten years. It amazed me when I realized that, an entire decade after I've graduated from art school I'm still at the same place. I've grown up a lot and I've learned a heck of a lot in that time, but it still made me feel like most of my identity since art school has become being a graphic designer/production manager at the same company. In order to branch out a bit and start feeling more like I'm not just known only as a graphic designer/production manager for that magazine, I decided to do something about an idea I've had for a while.

Over the last few years whenever I'd do something online I found myself using the nickname "octoberson" in one form or another. I always thought it had a nice ring to it. For a while now I've wondered how it would look if I took a stab at designing it into some sort of a logo. Well, this week, that attempt happened and I'm pleased with the result.

I've received a lot of positive feedback about the design. I've also received a lot of positive feedback in me finally manning up and deciding to do more with my talent than just being a production manager, which I still am. But I'm also a bit more than that. So, for good or bad, I'd say it's official that Octoberson Design is out there and waiting and ready to design for anyone needing my skills. It's actually an exciting time!
